The Social Science Research Network released a paper detailing Uber’s effects on DUI and fatal vehicle accidents caused by DUI. According to the Cato Institute, the study monitored DUI arrests and crashes in over 150 cities around the world from 2010 until 2013. The study found that Uber does, in fact, lower the rate of both DUIs and fatal accidents. In the U.S., alcohol-related deaths accounted for 31% of all vehicle accident deaths.
